Amazon. I know you guys are working on tablets or something but you should think about stealing this Kobo eReader Touch and using it as your next Kindle. Dude, it’s a touchscreen e-ink display. We’ve been wanting that forever ago.
But alas, it’s not going to be the next Amazon Kindle. It’s a Kobo. To be fair, this Kobo eReader Touch does have the look of a winner: there’s a 6-inch Pearl E-Ink screen that uses Neonode’s zForce infrared touch technology to let you navigate it as a touchscreen. I’m looking at the silly buttons on my Kindle in shame (while crossing my fingers and hoping the Kobo isn’t terribly unresponsive or laggy). It’ll only run you $US130 when it releases in early June. Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at 12:02 PMOne of the good things about the Kindle is that you only need to use one hand as the buttons sit on the side. No mindless screen swiping like a smartphone, or needing your second hand to touch the screen, just sit there and concentrate on reading (with a beer in your second hand).

Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at 1:18 PMI’m with Altairnode on this one – I can read the Kindle and have the spare hand for drinking, eating, scratching or whatever.
Now if you could use the touchscreen for the menu’s, and still leave the reading as a one hand option, you’d have my vote. But I’ve no desire to swipe the thing to change the page. Don’t like it when reading on my Galaxy S, or on my Ipad. The buttons on the Kindle work just fine.

Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at 9:55 PMSwiping isn’t necessary. Fortunately, if you just tap the left or the right half of the screen, it’ll go to the previous or next page respectively.
Very fortunately.

YOU DO NOT HAVE TO SWIPE TO CHANGE PAGES. Just tap the screen and it changes. There are a couple videos on youtube that show this.
