HTC Desire S And Wildfire S Both Telstra Exclusive

Gizmodo AU

Telstra last night announced its release details for the Desire S and Wildfire S smartphones from HTC. Both Gingerbread-based handsets are going to be available exclusively through Telstra, with an exceptionally attractive outright purchase price.

The Desire S, the true successor to last year’s top-selling Desire handset, will be available from May 31 for an outright price of $648, or for $5 a month on Telstra’s $59 Freedom Connect plan.

The Wildfire S won’t be available until July 19, but when it goes on sale it will be available for $360 outright or across a range of Freedom Connect plans.

Both are exceptionally affordable for a brand new smartphone, although the lack of a dual core processor may sway some discerning nerd types (you know who you are) away…

Plea to Telstra – no carrier customisations, please. They irritate me and I’m sure everyone else. I don’t need WhereIs to pop up in my search window every .. single .. search.

But Incredible S has been selling for outright from Telechoice for $569.. isn’t that a better deal? Since it is also not mentioned if this Desire S is NextG compatible.

As the Desire S is on Telstra, it’s almost certain it’s Next G compatible (and was later confirmed as such).

Also, I’d rather pick it up from Telstra than Telechoice and its import warranty.

I’ve recent purchased a Desire S, and moved to Telstra, in spite of searching the net for days trying to find out if it was NextG compatible.
    It is.
