Last November, BigPond broadband customers were already reporting that the Foxtel on Xbox service was coming up as unmetered content on their broadband bills, but today the PayTV provider officially announced the unmetered deal. It also announced six new channels coming to your Xbox, courtesy of BigPond TV.
The six additional BigPond TV channels coming to the Xbox Foxtel service include AFL and NRL TV, V8 and Racing TV and BigPond’s News and Sports channels. That means that AFL and NRL matches will be available to catch up with on demand, with live AFL matches coming to the service from the start of the 2012 season.
All six BigPond TV channels will be available to subscribers of the Getting Started Package at no additional cost.
The only thing keeping this announcement from being the perfect trifecta of Foxtel goodness would be if it included word that the geographic restrictions on the Foxtel on Xbox service had been lifted. But with the Foxtel takeover of Austar still not approved yet, we may have to wait a little biut longer for that one.

Monday, May 30, 2011 at 2:20 PMI’d like to know the specifics of receiving foxtel via xbox – the bitrates video and audio come in at and so forth.
Also, is it ONLY telstra that this would be unmetered on?

Monday, May 30, 2011 at 9:55 PMI got FOXTEL on my XBOX. I can’t say what the bitrate is as I don’t know the actual bitrate but I find it around 520p so only a little bit better the SD, In saying that though certain shows are in a higher res naturally like a lot of docos and movies are always of a better quality.
I would be surprised if other ISPs offered unmetered as FOXTEL is Telstra own service.
