Steve Wozniak gave a keynote event at some snoozeworthy tech industry event today, but he did have one thing on interest to say when it came to Android tablets:
“On the subject of tablets, I read today that Android tablets are expected to surpass iPads, and I hope that never happens,” Wozniak said.”

Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at 2:44 PMReally? I really really fear that ipads will be the only tablet device you could ever buy. Not only everyone own the same device that looks exactly the same, but Apple already abuse their power – imagine how bad it would be!

Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at 3:18 PMI thoroughly agree! Consider a world where iPad reigns and you’d have only 1 option to choose! Maybe Apple would release a slightly different version or something, but essentially we’d all be locked to Apple’s opinion of “what’s best” and forced to go the iTunes route!
Now consider the opposite situation, there’s only Android tablets. Notice how tablet there is plural? That’s because Android can be run on all sorts devices. It’d mean that you’d still be left with quite probably a wide range of choices as to what device suits you, sure they’d all be Droid but you’d have the hardware to suit you. Not to mention the custom ROM community would thrive in that situation. Pretty much meaning you’d be able to change Droid to whatever the hell you damn well please thanks to its openness!
So yeah I really hope Droid tablets overtake iPads because we’d see a lot more innovation, options and competition to deliver a variety that allows people to make the perfect choice of tablet for THEM. Rather than having Apple tell people what they want and force them to have it exactly as they THINK is best.

Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at 3:08 PMApple might need to release their death grip from the iPad if they want to keep up. The Android is the steak that fell from the table to the hungry dog after all it got were slices of apple.

Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at 3:52 PMIt’s the Apple vs IBM Compatibles all over again, at one point in time Apple were the only decent manufacture of home computers, then came the compatibles.
Sure Apple products will hopefully always have their place – and I am thankful for that. But the ‘Compatibles’ or Androids tablets of today have one simple feature that is different from Apple – CHOICE

Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at 6:01 PMYep, as everyone has already noted, Woz is wrong. Competition is always good for users. It’s even good for the users of the market leader, as they strive to stay the leader.
Maybe Woz thinks it will affect his stock price, I dunno

Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at 7:56 PMthe ios eco system is even more an Apple only walled garden than Mac os is/was…
and look what happened with mac os… minority share…
they are good, but they aren’t THAT good, look at how the constantly struggle with supply. this may seem like a great thing but I know of at least 2 people who bought a galaxy s because there were no iphones in stock… or another phone, or another, or another… all, inevitably, running android or, now, wp7

Wednesday, April 6, 2011 at 12:44 AMDont worry Woz. There are no Android tablets. They are keyboard-less netbooks computers. Very different experience. Then again, maybe this is what you are getting at.
