The Vignon Wine Thermometer: Temperature Over Temperance

I generally don’t drink wine that costs much more than the change I can scrounge up from the sofa cushions, which is why all the little things I can do to maximise its bouquet, nose, finish, and all those other terms I pretend to understand are so important.

Chief among those: temperature. Is my white cold enough? Is my red overheating? The Vignon Wine Thermometer tells you with a handsome, snap-on, watch-like display. And even if you don’t know the first thing about Pinot, at least you’ll look like you do. [Uncrate]

Would this really make a difference to people who don’t drink a lot of wine or don’t know what temperature the wine should be at?

I think it could be made better with a simple green or red led to show if the wine is at the correct drinking temperature.

Those temperatures, as shown, are not about drinking but storage, in particular long term storage or cellaring.

In general red should be drunk at room temperature and whites usually chilled/cool (not cold).
