According to the recently updated timeline of Microsoft’s NoDo Windows Phone 7 update, there are only two networks around the world who are still in the “testing” phase for the software rollout: Telefonica in Spain, and Telstra here in Australia.
The good news for Australians is that Optus has moved past the testing stage and into the “Scheduling” stage, which Microsoft informs us generally takes up to 10 business days, meaning Optus WP7 customers should be getting NoDo within a fortnight.
As for Telstra customers? A quick look at the update page on its website shows that there’s no more information about when WP7 customers on NextG can expect the update. Hopefully not too far away though.

Thursday, April 28, 2011 at 12:07 PMGod, stop letting these telco’s “test” for so long. Say “We’re releasing this patch on x date, you have until this date to report any bugs”.

Thursday, April 28, 2011 at 12:16 PMI think it’s funny that Telstra is apparently holding up the update. If you really want the update simply plug in your phone, go in to the Zune software and go to the phone update settings page.
The update will be yours. All Telstra is doing is preventing the flag in the marketplace on your phone from showing.
I have a HTC HD7 and got the nodo update about 1/2 day after its release (more to do with the proxy at work not letting me download it). It’s a pretty good update that seems to have removed some of the early adopter niggles I had with it (such as the marketplace being unusable).

Thursday, April 28, 2011 at 1:57 PM@ Stewart — I have a HTC Mozart with Telstra and can’t see any way to change the settings in Zune to get anything later than 7.0 (7008). Software says my phone is up-to-date. Is there something I’m missing?

Thursday, April 28, 2011 at 3:17 PMHey PeterS,
Stewart doesn’t know what he’s talking about. His HD7 comes with the NoDo update preinstalled, which is why he got it. As for us HTC 7 Mozart and LG phone owners, there is no way for us to offically get the update through Zune until Telstra approves it, you haven’t missed anything.

Thursday, April 28, 2011 at 4:56 PMI’m sorry Peter, Andrew does not know what he is talking about.
I have a Mozart 7 on Telstra and I got the nodo update, not officially through Telstra, but it is still the official update. There was no way i was going to wait for Telstra to get off their fat butts and release it to me. What Stewart doesn’t say is that it wasn’t though Zune as you may have interpreted.
Just google if you’re interested in getting the nodo update.. i did and am glad i did because my Mozart, which i was not liking so much, is much better now since i updated.
That is all!

Saturday, April 30, 2011 at 12:52 AMI’m sorry Peter, Andrew. Behemoth does not know what he is talking about. And by that I mean he *does* know what he is talking about, he just can’t read.
Stewart explicitly says “go in to the Zune software and go to the phone update settings page.” and is ofcourse talking about the HD7.
Yes there are ways (hacky ways) to get the update that are frowned upon by Microsoft, but nothing official (or warranty preserving :P) from Telstra.
Who am I kidding, I’m not sorry at all am I?

Thursday, April 28, 2011 at 12:35 PM@Cameron – Hmmm… Undertested products is the main reason I’m in business! I do warranty repairs on TV’s.

Thursday, April 28, 2011 at 1:06 PMThe fact that Microsoft has put itself in the – incapable hands – of a number of Telephone carriers around the world will do nothing but frustrate WP7 users. Telstra and Telephonica should be ashamed of themselves. Microsoft has got to figure out a way of not having to rely on companies like Telstra to sell their product. Ever been into a Telstra Shop to ask a question or get some help? This should have benn the warning sign for Microsoft.

Thursday, April 28, 2011 at 2:40 PMYou don’t actually believe Telstra is performing any testing, do you?
This is just a delaying tactic in the hopes that you will buy another phone, or upgrade and sign on to another contract.
There is nothing for Telstra to test. After all, if I buy a WP7 phone from somewhere else and it’s a model that Telstra don’t sell, are they going to stop me signing up? Of course not. They don’t care.
The whole “testing” thing is a marketing scam, one that Apple stopped for the iPhone. Why can’t Microsoft and Google do the same thing?

Monday, May 2, 2011 at 9:37 AMMaybe you need to take off your tin foil hat. Telstra is delaying the update because so much of their bundled software still does not work with WP7. Things like Mobile Foxtel etc. Why its taking so long to get all this working is beyond me, but would you prefer they release something without first making sure everything works correctly?

Thursday, April 28, 2011 at 5:06 PMI just coughed up for a developer licence and I’m looking forward to installing the Mango update beta next month (May). Also my games are coming along nicely, :)

Thursday, April 28, 2011 at 5:16 PMStill waiting for Optus to update my Omnia 7 to NoDo. Have any Australian carriers released this update?

Thursday, April 28, 2011 at 11:25 PMSo not surprised. Telstra is the only Telco holding out the 3.14 update for the HD2 as well.
I say all Mozart users demand a free HD7 to give us NoDo as they are too far behind updating.

Saturday, April 30, 2011 at 12:08 AMThis tedious process along with knowing a lot of features I need to ditch iOS wont come until mango have guarunteed I wont be going to WP7 until at least gen2.
