Russian Antivirus Tycoon’s Son Kidnapped

Yevgeny Kaspersky, head of mega-antivirus firm Kaspersky Labs, probably has a lot of enemies in Russia – a country where cybercrime rakes in the rubles. So it’s not entirely surprisingly that Yevgeny’s son has been kidnapped and held for ransom.

Right now, his captors are demanding $US4.3 million for the missing 20-year-old, who’s been missing for two days as police search in vain. While this might just be a gang figuring they can ransom off a rich guy’s son, I’ll bet my most virus-laden .RAR file this has something to do with organised crime. [BBC via Reddit]
