Nintendo Isn’t Bothered About Making A Mobile Phone

Scream all you want about Crash Bandicoot being one of the launch-games on Sony Ericsson’s Xperia Play, but Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime doesn’t plan to gift you any of their retro titles on a Nintendo phone.

Fils-Aime told CNN that they “have no desire to get into telephony”, adding that they “believe that we will earn our way into someone’s pocket without having to offer that (phone capability) as an additional factor”. Nintendo bargained with AT&T for providing free Wi-Fi access for 3DSes, but any plans for a 3DS phone are all in your imagination. Fils-Aime believes that “phones are utilities. Phones are not by definition entertainment devices.”

I’m sure Sony Ericsson and Microsoft would beg to differ. [CNN via Kotaku]
