To start, the “specs” mentioned in the headline are a bit more robust and power-consuming that what was pushed out of Cupertino late last year, starting with a 2.5Ghz Core i5 chip and a single-slot 8GB RAM stick. Next up is USB 3.0, eSATA, an SDXC reader and some kind of “hybrid Digital Display Port” that will allow users to output using DisplayPort or HDMI.
In at least one area outside thinness the X1 is also aping the MacBook Air with its purported lack of an optical drive. RIP, dude!
The X1 is rumoured to be arriving sometime in May, possibly 17-20, for about $US2290. [Macann via Electronista]

This looks good. let’s hope it’s robust.

Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at 10:43 PMActually, my old X41T from 2005 also didn’t come with an optical. Nor did the X20′s, X30′s or several other IBMs back to, I believe, the 500 series from the late 90′s.
And that’s no internal media other than a hard drive – we’re not talking flopticals here.
