The white iPhone 4 has finally arrived today. But who’s hanging out to get one?
Considering the length of the delays for the white version of Apple’s most popular iPhone model ever, it’s hard to conceive that anybody would have deliberately held off purchasing a new iPhone specifically because they wanted the white model.
Then again, I saw people buy an iPhone 3G two weeks before the iPhone 4 went on sale, so maybe I’m not the best judge of what’s conceivable.
Now that the white model is on sale, I’m sure it’ll sell truckloads, but what we really want to know is whether or not the colour white was enough to hold you back from buying what is arguably almost a 12-month old phone.

Thursday, April 28, 2011 at 1:57 PMI’m still surprised they decided to release it, and didn’t hold back white til the 5.
I’m an Apple fan, and I love my 4, but I could not give a shit about the white phone. Oddly, it seems like a desperation type move that a company would do in trouble, even though they’ve just posted gigantic profits.

Thursday, April 28, 2011 at 2:53 PMMy gf is getting one asap. her contract for the old 3g (not 3gs!) is up this month so her mistake really was not waiting for the 3gs in the first place….the 3g is basically a brick and has been for 6 months now so i can’t blame her at all for not wanting to wait another 5 months.
I’m just praying the 4 has a better lifespan than the 3g, surely they wont cripple it again in a year and a half!

Thursday, April 28, 2011 at 4:15 PMIs it just me who thinks that the white iphone4 is apple’s first stuff-up? I can see why they want to get it out now rather than waiting for the 5 considering how much work has gone in to making it happen.
As to people who buy older products when a newer model is about to be released?
a) not everyone reads gizmodo!
b) I know people who have unknowingly bought the old product a week before the new one, and I know 1 person in particular who I told to wait 2 weeks for the new product, and gone out to buy the old one anyway!
For non-geek people, the older stuff is usually fine and they dont know any better. They have an iphone and that makes them happy.

Thursday, April 28, 2011 at 5:42 PMPoor buggers who waited for this thing. Not sure why anyone would buy this now, considering the IP5 is half a year away (of a likely 24 month contract).
But then again, a lot of people ie. either geeks who love their phones, or the clueless (no middle ground) will line up for this thing the same way they lined up for the Verizon launch…for exactly the same phone. Apple will post record profits. Again. And Steve Jobs can rest easy.
