Get Divorced In Three Simple Text Messages

Something like half of all marriages end in divorce in the US. But imagine if we had the kind of system they’ve got in Tajikistan: There, husbands can divorce their wives by simply sending them a text message that says “Taloq taloq taloq” (Divorce divorce divorce).

Apparently, a growing number of Tajik men are using mobile phones to complete the “triple taloq”, which the Associated Press describes as “an Islamic ritual in which men can end a marriage by reciting the word for divorce three times”. If men can divorce their wives with a text message, then women should be able to collect child support payments via PayPal. Only fair.
