The First Star Wars 3D Theatrical Release: 2/10/12

Following up on the unfortunate promise that he’d release all six Star Wars movies in three dimensions, George Lucas has settled on February 10th, 2012 for the premiere of a 3D Episode I: The Phantom Menace. Subsequent titles will be released once per year, in order, which means we’ve got some time before there’s anything you’d actually want to pay $US16 bucks to see again.

Then again, maybe Jar Jar will make total sense now. [AV Club]

Soooo… this is the way the world ends… not with a whimper, but a 3D re-release of the Phantom Menace. On the upside, if the Mayans were wrong, it still means I have to wait til 2015 to see a decent Star Wars flick in 3D :P

Dont worry everyone!! I am sure GL will use this opportunity to digitally edit Jar Jar out of EP1 (maybe put some cool new char in his place, Han Solo’s dad anyone?)… If he doesnt, then he is a bigger lunatic than anyone can imagine…

Hey George, your movie sucked the first time. 3D won’t help it any more.

Jar Jar Binks in 3D represents the biggest leap forward for cinematic technology ever. He’ll look so real it will be like you can reach out and strangle him. How is this not good?
