Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 Cafe Hits Circular Quay

Gizmodo AU

For today only Sydneysiders can get hands-on with the new Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1v before its April release. In front of Customs House, Samsung has erected a pop-up cafe for the day, complete with free coffee and free Adriano Zumbo macaroons in a special Gingerbread and Honeycomb flavour. Get it?

If you’ve been tossing up a tablet decision it’s a great chance to get a feel for the Honeycomb-powered Tab. As it’s running a vanilla Android interface it’s a nice way to get a feel for the updated OS, which takes a couple of minutes to get a handle on if you’re used to 2.x but quickly feels like a nice evolution. And free coffee and macaroons from the now-famous ‘dessert guy off MasterChef’ is a nice little sweetener as well.

Note: We sampled the macaroons in the name of science. They’re very blue and very good.

Went along lunch time. Waste of time. Typical vodophone service. Staff didn’t seem to want to talk us, some too busy playing with devices to even notice potential clients. Tablets that ran out of power. After 15 minutes of waiting around to get a chance to play with a tablet, I left.. couldn’t even get a macaroon or coffee because you had to have a demo first. Very poorly run IMHO.

You should have said hello – I was getting a briefing on it in the VIP section :)

I went down and had a look… they were Samsung people I spoke to and seemed fine! Nice to see the iPad has a contender, even ran okay on Vodafones network which was a surprise :s

Sounds like a great excuse to ditch work for the afternoon.
