RIM’s Marketing Chief Resigns

WSJ is reporting that Keith Pardy, RIM’s Chief Marketing Officer, has resigned and will leave the company over a six-month transition period. WSJ’s sources cite “personal reasons” but given the timeframe, the BlackBerry PlayBook is expected to release soon (and BlackBerry needs a bonafide hit), it’s a peculiar move that may speak to RIM’s growing problems. He is staying on for the next 6 months to help with the transition to another CMO. People don’t stay on to help out if things aren’t going well.

I concur with the poster. If a falling out occurs they get the house cleaned out fast – no way a guy stays on to transition for a six-month period if there is anything nefarious or conflict-based to the point of antipathy on all sides.

RIM will have plenty of time to find someone and Hardy will help show ‘em the ropes. ‘Nuff said.
