QR Codes Finally Used In Their Natural Environment: Porn

Gizmodo AU

We know QR codes are great for stamps and bus stops and graves. But the true measure of a new technology making its mark is when the porn industry gets its freshly-disinfected hands on it. And that glorious day has finally arrived, courtesy of mega-studio Digital Playground.

The outfit that produced Pirates and other high-budget hi-def skin flicks might be preparing to ditch Flash, but it’s all for placing QR codes on its DVD and Blu-ray cases boxes so that customers who don’t access its wares by (ahem) digital means can find out more about the product. The first title to enjoy this treatment? The unsubtly-titled Top Guns. Wonder if they’ll send Tom Cruise a copy?

You couldn’t put a NSFW warning on the link to the original article?

Added, but I’m not sure what you expected clicking a link to AVN…

Surely, the word “Porn” may have given something away? (and don’t call me Shirley)

In future could you make the QR codes a bit clearer, it took me ages to get my iPhone to register it!!
      ;-)
