What makes it extra galling is that the 6.5m tall clock’s design was apparently inspired by the Greenwich Meridian line, which is the “home of time”. The clock stopped running today, pausing it at 500 days, seven hours, six minutes and 56 seconds. At least Britain can pass off some of the blame – the clock is made by Omega, a Swiss company.
