According to analyst Gene Munster – who had a dubious record with original iPad estimates – the iPad 2 is totally sold out and has been since Saturday.
Munster estimates that Apple sold between 400,000 and 500,000 tablets after just 24 hours of availability, with 70 per cent of buyers getting their grubby little mitts on their very first iPad.
Don’t worry if you missed out on that first wave, iPad hopefuls! Hopefully the next round of production will fix the reported backlight leakage that some early adopters have experienced. [Fortune]

Saturday, March 26, 2011 at 9:38 PMApple are obviously not interested in the business community otherwise they must have rocks in their head to bring out the iPad out at 5pm on a Friday afternoon. Went to a few places just after 5 sold out at all, students buying multiple units. Students waiting in line for hours yet a worker who wants one no chance and will have to wait weeks.
iPad comes in tandem with iCrap because thats what Apples distribution, limited stock release and poor customer service is.
I will have to put up with their service because my wife really wants to use the video calling feature, however i personally cant wait to the Windows and Android makers get their act together and give Apple a run for their money. Many say Apple has such a market dominance well that will quickly fade because once a person can start using a table to run Excel, Powerpoint, Sharepoint, Work, Project and the like and people will be leaving Apple’s toy in droves.
