Flipboard Adds Instagram Photos And Social Search

Flipboard, the personalised tablet magazine that Apple named the best iPad app of 2010, just got a handful of excellent updates.

First and foremost, you can now pipe your friends’ Instagram photos into your digital rag, the larger screen giving them some space to stretch out on (as opposed to being cooped up on your phone’s tiny display). Flipboard also added social search – look for “SXSW”, say, and results across Instagram, Flickr, Facebook and Twitter will pop up. But don’t actually search for that, unless you’re there, because all the results are gonna be annoying. And, to wrap it all up, the layout has been tweaked here and there, resulting in loading times that are supposedly twice as fast as previous versions. Good to see Flipboard’s not resting on its laurels. [Flipboard]
