B&W Zeppelin Air Landing April 1 For $799

Gizmodo AU

If you were looking for a reason to get excited about Apple’s Airplay, the B&W Zeppelin Air has just received Australian release details.

One of the US team’s favourite products from CES this year, the B&W Zeppelin Air is just like their old Zeppelin, except with the added benefit of wireless. Using Apple’s Airplay, you can stream music from your iPhone or iPod with a couple of button presses.

The speaker system will land on April 1 for $799. Sure, it’s a premium price, but given B&W’s heritage, we were never expecting a budget pricetag.

There’s no mention of it anywhere begin detachable. But if you have a hacksaw…

” …technically, the arm is removable with a little hacking, but very difficult to reattach” from the guys over at Tested.com when they did a review of the unit. Soundwise they say it’s pretty damn good but Airplay can be a little buggy and probably only suited to the technically competent. Having just bought a Zep Mini (just for my bedroom) myself and some P5′s just today, I can pretty safely say that if you’re hesitant about the sound quality don’t be, and the Airplay is really just an added bonus.

Great dock, I had to toss up between either the Zeppelin, or the Geneva Model L, and I ended up going for the Geneva… But this would’ve tipped the scales more over to B&W

It’s funny, if someone spends $1000-1500 on a stereo, you’d think, gee that’s cheap. Yet $800 on a hifi unit that’s better sound and quality than any $1-1.5k stereo, is expensive?? Just because it attaches an iPod!?

      B&W speakers are unsurpassable :)
