Amazon’s Tablet Won’t Be Called ‘Scratchpad’

We’ve already decided an Amazon tablet would be a Very Good Thing if the price is right, and it looks, feels and works amazingly well. But you can’t fixate on a hypothetical gadget unless you have a name, right? Unfortunately it looks like “Scratchpad” is not it – so it’s back to the drawing board for now.

The name came about when it was discovered Amazon had registered a bunch of domains on March 25th, including “AmazonScratchpad.com”. Great name, right? It’s just a shame some of the domains were linked with the letters “MWS”—which stands for “Marketplace Web Service”, Amazon’s developer tools. As The Next Web points out, Scratchpad apps have been around for years. [TNW]
