The technilogically-savvy bunch over at the XDA Developers forums have uncovered and made available the Android Gingerbread 2.3.3 update for Nexus One and Nexus S phones. That means if you have either of those devices, you don’t have to wait for the OTA update to kick in. Thanks guys! [XDA Developers via Brief Mobile via Engadget]

I also found the UI to be more responsive, even though Quadrant scores remain the same.

If you don’t want to wait for the OTA update, or if you run any kind of altered ROM, there is a thread at XDA Developers detailing the upgrade.
In essence you need HBOOT 35.0017 and a completely stock FRG83 Froyo ROM. Updgrades are performed using either Amon-RA or Clockworkmod recovery with signatures turned off. Root access must be enabled again manually once the update is complete.
