Want To Buy Australian-Made Products? There’s An App For That

title=In times of crisis or natural disaster, it’s only natural for a country to band together and rediscover its nationalism. Couple that with Australia Day next week, and all of a sudden you have the ideal timing to launch an iOS app to help customers discover Australian-made and Australian-grown products. Which is exactly what Buy Australian – a free new iOS app – does.

The app lets you search by product, brand, company or category to find Australian-made alternatives when it comes to your shopping needs. Or if you don’t feel like searching, there’s a “shopping strip” mode with virtual shops you can browse through. There’s also competitions to win Aussie products within the app, for those of you who like to win stuff.

Usage-wise the app is terribly slow, taking an age to load listings as you drill down through categories. It looks nice though, and has plenty of information if you have the patience for it to load. Well, plenty of contact information for Aussie companies at least, not so much specific products you should buy or links to buy them.

But if you’re the kind of person who starts an “Aussie, Aussie, Aussie, Oi, Oi, Oi” chant at a sporting event (*groan*), chances are you’ll find this app worth the mobile data you consume to download it. Hell, everyone should download it anyway, if only to show that you’re patriotic, considering it’s free.
