Sony L Series AIO Puts Multitouch Shortcuts On The Bezel

Smudges! They’re the scourge of any multitouch all-in-one PC, especially for the clammy palmed among us. A problem Sony might just have solved by putting gesture-based shortcuts on the bezel.

The Vaio L Series uses every part of its 24-inch display. You can still stab and swipe within the comfortable confines of the centre of the screen, but also have the more sophisticated alternative of using shortcuts located on the bezel to close windows, zoom in and out, scroll, rotate and navigate the web. It’s not the most intuitive interface I’ve ever seen, but it’s an earnest attempt at keeping your display clean and clear.

The L Series fits in up to Intel Core i7 and GeForce GT 540M guts, 8GB RAM, 2TB of storage and a Blu-ray drive. Oh, and two USB 3.0 ports (along with two USB 2.0 and an HDMI in and out). It’s kind of a beast! Especially when you throw in the built-in TV tuner and DVR, as well as a Blu-ray drive and HDMI out. They’ve really spared no feature and unfortunately those expenses get passed on to you; the L Series starts at $US1200, and goes up up up from there. I think I might invest in a microfiber cloth instead.
