Hackers Who Discovered AT&T iPad Security Breach Get Arrested

U.S. Prosecutors have filed criminal charges against Daniel Spitler and Andrew Auernheimer, the two Goatse Security members who exposed a serious security flaw in AT&T’s iPad subscriber database last year. What a terrible thing, pointing out AT&T’s leaky system!

As is often the case with these sorts of things, the individuals who pointed out the flaw – one which exposed over a hundred thousand email addresses of AT&T subscribers, including politicians, business people and celebrities – have been arrested for their activities, each charged with one count of fraud and one count of conspiracy to access a computer without authorization. The FBI will hold a press conference this afternoon to discuss the charges. [Reuters]
