We aren’t the biggest fans of extended warranties, but tech blog Unplggd shows us that even though you shouldn’t buy one, the fact that they’re offered can tell you whether a refurbished product is worth buying.
Extended warranties aren’t usually worth the money. When you’re buying refurbished, though, they can come in pretty handy, even if you don’t actually buy it. Unplggd recommends always buying refurbished gadgets straight from the manufacturer or an authorised retailer, so you know it’s gone through some good quality control. Furthermore, they say, check to see if they offer an extended warranty, even if you don’t buy it. If they do, it’s usually a good sign that they have confidence in the product.
