Samsung has given us their official statement on the Australian release of the new Gingerbread powered Nexus S. It’s pretty much exactly what we expected:
“Samsung Electronics Australia is excited at the prospect of bringing the Nexus S to Australia. We are currently reviewing our options on how to bring this to market locally and look forward to sharing more details at a later stage.”
In other words, it’s coming, but you have to wait. Good to know… I guess…

Tuesday, December 7, 2010 at 6:14 PMWhy would you want to buy it in Australia, they’ll just jack up the price a couple hundred dollars here like every other gadget.
Better off buying internationally.

Tuesday, December 7, 2010 at 7:02 PMConsidering it’s unlocked from the Google web store, wouldn’t we just be able to buy it from there if we wanted one?

Tuesday, December 7, 2010 at 10:08 PMDo want. No doubt my carrier (Virgin) will be late in picking it up or not at all. Then again, who knows.

Wednesday, December 8, 2010 at 1:43 AMTranlation: “No carriers will distribute it unless we fill it with bloatware and build custom firmware/roms for them, we know you would just like a phone that works but we can’t just sell you the devices”… And that is why I buy all of my phones overseas in an unlocked state.

Wednesday, December 8, 2010 at 9:46 AMI’d be interested to see Quadrant and Linpack results before jumping on this one. I saw a quick hands on review on engadget last night, and the reviewer said it was fast. They also said the Galaxy S was fast as well, but its a laggy POS.
Those out there with a Nexus One, I would suggest not upgrading to this. Wait for the Dual Core handsets to emerge early next year instead.
