
Of course, even the most high profile recent case of cyber war – the Stuxnet virus that attacked Iran’s uranium-enrichment capabilities – can’t be traced directly back to governments. It’s a shadow war in the truest sense, where the soldiers are bits of code and their missions are obscure.
And given that all that vagueness and secrecy, we’ve still caught on to this much activity? All that says to me is that we can’t even imagine the extent of the serious state-sponsored stuff. [New Scientist]
