Budget

Even if your mum doesn’t appreciate the crazy that comes with watching and listening to Lady Gaga, she’ll appreciate the fancy sparkles of the Heartbeats earphones.

Luxury
TiVo, $499
A DVR is a mum’s best friend, allowing them to record their favourite TV shows and watch them back when they want. TiVo is one of the cheapest and best on the market, with an interface so simple even your mum can use it.

Monday, December 6, 2010 at 4:37 PMAre there Gizmodo readers that can afford to spend $500 on their Mum’s Christmas present? And if so, what drug do you deal?

Monday, December 6, 2010 at 5:14 PMwell firstly, its marked ‘luxury’
and secondly: who among us wouldn’t seriously consider re-mortgaging the house if it allowed us to obtain a device that meant NEVER AGAIN trying to walk our mums through how to find a tape/disk, record and then watch their shows, only to then have to do it for them anyway! FOR THE FIVE THOUSANDTH F***ING TIME!!
from that angle, $500 is CHEAP!
but should you share a tv with your parents, and they were nice enough to get you a ps3 for your birthday, a cheaper alternative would be to pay them back by getting them play tv. they *might* be able to figure out how to use it.

Monday, December 6, 2010 at 6:22 PMCan I afford to spend $500 on the woman that gave me life? HELL YES! Mate maybe you should think about your priorities… Im sure you wouldn’t think twice about spending that money on yourself for a piece of Tech…
I got my mother an Ipad for christmas, and seeing the enjoyment that she will get out of it will be far more valuable than how much i spent on the gift…

Monday, December 6, 2010 at 10:42 PMUmm. It’s your mum. You should really go all out. Last year I gave her a Samsung LCD and this year it’s a iMac 21″. I thought all gadget guys were mummy boys.
