There were two main themes in TVs this year – 3D and IPTV. With 3D content rare and IPTV content growing across almost every manufacturer, it’s no surprise that the TV category in our Gadget Awards was a close fought battle. But there can be only one winner, and for 2010, that winner is…
Reader’s Choice: Panasonic VT20

There were only 3 votes separating the VT20 from Samsung’s Series 9 LED TV, which shows just how tight the voting was. But in the end, the first plasma from Panasonic to include technology from Pioneer’s Kuro range was enough to win.
Editor’s Choice: Panasonic VT20
What can we say, we’re fans of Plasma here at Giz HQ. The VT20 is a great television, and a relative bargain as well.
Voting is still open for the three remaining categories, so make sure you get your votes in sooner rather than later!

I compared the 50 inch VT20s and Samsung PS50C7000s and found the Samsung to be a much more solid all-round package. Better menus, firmware, support and features.
When comparing the pictures, there was not a huge difference.
I picked the Sammy over the Panny.

Wednesday, February 2, 2011 at 1:25 PMI got the VT over the Samsung. The 2D picture quality on the VT was better than the Samsung, and the 3D picture on the VT was much better than the Samsung. Prior to the VT, I had always purchased Samsung, the VT is a better TV.

Monday, January 3, 2011 at 6:42 PMDLNA support for the Panasonic is currently only MPEG2 for video. I would like to see a firmware update allowing MPEG4 support when streaming video via DLNA (like from my NAS). No idea whay Pioneer or Samsung have in this area
