Realestate.com.au Finally Launches An iPhone App

Gizmodo AU

It’s been two and a half years since the iPhone launched in Australia. Yet it’s only this week that online real estate search engine realestate.com.au has launched an iPhone app. What took them so long?

While they’ve only just launched their free, dedicated iPhone app, they did have a mobile version of their website for the past few years. Apparently in October 77% of mobile access of that site came from the iPhone, which explains the new app.

As you’d expect, it lets you search for real estate, but doesn’t feature any of the augmented reality functions seen from all those banking real estate apps. It does let you search from your current location though. It’s probably not enough to explain the two year wait, but if you’re looking to buy a house, this should be an automatic download.

…and it’s a ripper! Had it for almost a week. Much better than the Domain app – only thing is there’s no ability to sort your search results and you can’t “star” any as favourites. The full screen landscape photos add to the experiece.

        Not at all.

Besides, at least the mobile web site works equally as well on pretty much all devices.

I don’t understand, why have ‘apps’ at all, is the web browser broken?
