I’m A Lumberjack And I’m Keeping Toasty-Warm Thanks To My Giant Bloody Furnace

Those Canadian lumberjacks must know a trick or two about staying warm. While gadgeteers console themselves in heated jackets and Slankets, lumberjacks were out there slapping bits of steel together to create the Bullerjan furnace. Toasty. [Bullerjan via Uncrate]

I was in Germany this year in Marburg and the Sports bar at “Aquamar Marburg” (Swimming Pool)had one of these.

Was damn good heat pumping out of it and rather economic on wood too

Those pipes look like some mad V8 fan designed the furnace but I’m thinking it’s actually a very clever idea to use convection to help cold air enter the bottom of each tube and as it’s heated it rises thus flowing out the top. I’ve seen some wood heaters with really crappy designs that just let all the heat go straight up the stove pipe and out the roof.
