Give Your iPhone 3G/3GS a Brushed Finish

Gizmodo AU

If you fancy giving your old iPhone 3G or 3GS a new lease on life with a brushed finish, tipster Rhett has put together a useful how-to on getting rid of the black gloss in favour of a more distinguished brushed finish.

The finished version apparently still attracts fingerprints, but it certainly looks a bit different to the standard glossy back on older iPhones. It requires little more than a small screwdriver, a guitar pick, and two types of sandpaper, plus a fair amount of time and effort. Unsurprisingly, the procedure isn’t recommended for the iPhone 4.
