If you remember, the iPad already uses a sort of “logo antenna” (as does the iMac), but those antennas deal with Wi-Fi. This new patent spells out use for cell phone antennas too, the patent states that the “logo antennas” will cover “wireless communications in cellular telephone bands such as the GSM bands at 850 MHz, 900 MHz, 1800 MHz and 1900 MHz and the 2100 MHz data band.” Making it seem incredibly ideal for future iPhones.
Interestingly though, the iPad and iMac are both made from aluminium (while the iPhone 4 is currently glass) and the logo on the iPad and iMac is significantly larger than that on the iPhone. [Patently Apple]

Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at 2:22 PMAddress the attenuation issue?? This is probably a ploy created by the mindes of Apple as a decoy.. Don’t you think this would make it worse seen as you grip a mobile phone in such a way that the entire back of it is covered??? com-on Gizmodo, I thought you were smarter than that!

Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at 12:50 AMcalm down both of you, as your both barking up the wrong tree. apple logos on iphones like this would be made of glass or plastic anyway, nullifying the chance of bridging the antenna (the problem with the iphone 4)
