This Is What Happens When You Burn Steel Wool

It’s so surprisingly fantastic and magical that I’m going to go buy steel wool and light it on fire right now. It’s like having front row seats to an intergalactic light show. [Boing Boing]

Why haven’t you seen this before? Ahh, forgive me, modern era kids never had bonfires or incinerators.
We used to get a length of electrical cable with exposed wires tied into steel wool. The other end had a 9v battery with a rudimentary switch attached.
Next was to swing the wire in an arc or pattern whilst pressing down on the switch. Instant fire trail, and things on fire.

That looks pritty cool and much more fun than using it to scrub the pots and pans!

Part of the smart 4 wheel driver’s equipment. Jumper leads between car battery and steel wool = instant fire starter. I burns so hot, it’ll light even wet kindling.
