The Gizmodo GizMod Rukus: Safety All The Way


It may not be the most glamorous of car modifications, but if you want to avoid situations like those experienced by a couple of Wallaby hookers, installing a reversing assistance camera is one of the most beneficial pieces of tech you can add to your car.

The camera we’ve installed comes from Pioneer and features some pretty handy features for the average install – it doesn’t actually need to be mounted in the dead centre of your car, for example. It also features a button that lets you switch from looking out to looking directly down, so you can quickly check to see how close you are to the curb as you reverse.

It may not be sexy, but there was never a question of not modding our GizMod Rukus with one of these. And before you all get up in arms and bemoan this relatively low-tech install, remember that you have to crawl before you can walk, and safety is paramount…
