What a pleasant surprise! The fellows over at Create Digital Music have discovered that iOS 4.2 will allow iPads, iPhones, and iPod Touches to support MIDI devices over both USB (via camera connection kit) and Wi-Fi.
The above video shows what the 4.2-ready version of Pianist Pro will be capable of, and Create Digital Music has rounded up a host of other videos showing what sorts of MIDI setups will work after the 4.2 upgrade. Exciting news for anyone who even dabbles in making music on their Apple mobile device. Now where’s my iPad-optimised Garage Band? [Create Digital Music via Engadget]

Even the iPod is compromised as an e-Reader, but the screen is heaps better than the competition. But my iPad is delicious. My wife and 86 year old mother love it because “it just works, and is so easy to use!” Way to Go Apple
