While most of us are sitting back, waiting for the Foxtel on Xbox service to go live, some people have been given access to the Beta. And one of those people at least had the good sense to post a video of their experience to YouTube so we can all see what we’re waiting for. And from the clip, it has to be said that the service looks pretty darned good.
I’m impressed. And looking forward to checking the service out when it launches later this month. How about you?
[YouTube - Thanks Michael!]

Wednesday, November 3, 2010 at 12:54 PMImpressive buffering times and quality. Shame the guy doesn’t have any connection information to go with it.
Personally, I still can’t see the value, unfortunately. Especially without ISP partners.

Wednesday, November 3, 2010 at 2:56 PMVery impressive speeds over Wi-Fi for me personally. But I can see the value for this, a great selection of channels, impressive TV Guide and the ability to switch quality on the fly :)

Wednesday, November 3, 2010 at 12:59 PMAt 800mb/hour, I think I’ll give it a miss. :P

Wednesday, November 3, 2010 at 1:25 PMThe only reason I have foxtel is for premier league.. my flat doesnt get IQ so im paying a fortune for a shitty low quality box.
If I can watch (and more importantly record) the EPL, i’m willing to ditch my normal box and up my internet plan.

Wednesday, November 3, 2010 at 1:41 PMSo you have to spend precious downloads on ads too?

Wednesday, November 3, 2010 at 1:44 PMThis should defiantly be included with any foxtel subscription package at no extra cost. It would add a layer of value for existing and new customers.
Also if they wanted this to simply attract new customers why would they lock out people who aren’t in areas serviced by foxtel.

Wednesday, November 3, 2010 at 2:02 PMThe bigger question here is what type of Internet service the person who made the video uses.
Unless you’re on Telstra cable or a decent ADSL2+ connection, the mere fact that Foxtel is available is irrelevant.

Wednesday, November 3, 2010 at 2:47 PMoh so its not final release yet? that makes me kinda happy…
i’m currently on the base + entertainment package and its not too bad… as said in another post on here its just a shame about the crappy license restrictions in australia causing some shows to be unwatchable as this is internet streaming…

Wednesday, November 3, 2010 at 6:08 PMPro tip, when you register online, all you need to do is use a normal foxtel area postcode and it will let you sign up pay and use the service ;)

Wednesday, November 3, 2010 at 5:10 PMI know a few people at the moment who are going to sign their Xbox 360 up on their parents foxtel account.
Sucks to $100 a month for TV.

Wednesday, November 3, 2010 at 9:51 PMI really want to watch 3D Blu-Ray discs too, but the mean man at the shop said I need a 3D TV and all kinds of techno junk! No thank you very much!

If you are still on an antiquated metered data plan, or you don’t live in an area that can achieve an appropriate download speed, this is not a service for you. Unfortunately, they can’t make it run on magic.
