Casio’s Mercury-Free Projector Uses Laser-LED Hybrid Light

Lasers can be a nasty chemical affair, which makes tossing them out ecologically dubious. But Casio’s now available GREEN SLIM line of 3000 lumen projectors uses the first ever mercury-free laser and LED hybrid light to beam your stuff.

Casio says the projector’s light – the brightest mercury-free source out there – is rated for up to 20,000 hours of use, and unlike a mercury bulb, won’t put toxins in the ground when the time comes to trash it. Casio will offer four models with resolution up to 1280×800, and two including 802.11b/g/n connectivity. The line hits shelves this month, spanning $US1499 – $US1799, based on resolution and the wireless option. [Casio GREEN SLIM]
