The Hearing Aid Gets Hip

Forgive my ignorance, but the Siemens miniTek hearing aid “audio system” is the first I’ve seen that combines Bluetooth, mp3 and other wireless controls with the traditional sound-boost typically associated with these devices. Did the hearing aid just get cool?

I know they’ve become incredibly small and inconspicuous with brands like Miracle-Ear (Patrick Duffy, what up dog?), et al, but this miniTek thing controls televisions too! Just cycle through all your connected devices and gadgets and their sounds appear in your dilapidated ear canals.

Hearing loss is awful, of course, but this seems like it’d be quite handy. [Medgadget]

    Think about it people.

Even WE will get old. Our fellow gamers/tech heads who work at these companies are just trying to delay us having to give up gaming/e.t.c.

Let me tell you it’s amazing tech and I am using some of it on my not so good hearing abilities but nothing, absolutely nothing, can replicate the amazing abilities of normal hearing.

Folks this stuff is old -

love the hype and all, but siemens are not the only hearing aid manufacturer to do these features, and most of the better aid manufacturers have had this as an option for at two to three years now.

    Strongly agree to Russell.
And Phonak’s streamer is way better than siemens..

Siemens is years ahead in this technology. I’ve used both Phonak’s iCom and Siemens miniTek and the sound quality of the MiniTek is much better
