Nintendo Have Upgraded Their Wii Bundle

Gizmodo AU

If there’s an Australian household out there that hasn’t already purchased a Wii, played it for a month, left it to collect dust and then sold it on eBay, Nintendo have just announced a new Wii bundle which delivers what the Wii should have been from launch. Almost.

The new bundle includes either the black or white console, plus Wii Sports, Wii Sports Resort, the new Wii Remote Plus and a nunchuk for $300. For those with short memory spans, the Wii Remote Plus is a Wii Remote with the Motionplus attachment built in, like it should have been from launch.

Now all the Wii is missing is HD capability. And an HDMI port. And decent third party games, although I guess that last one may be getting catered to…

Nick.. it’s not 2006 anymore. We know the Wii doesn’t have HD and have come to accept it. :P

      You’re a better man than me. I still want a HDMI-capable Wii… :)

Agree Nick. If every other gaming console and appliance that connects to my TV has it, what makes Nintendo so special?

Agree totally. It’s ok if it’s all you play but if you’ve just been on the XB360 and hopped onto the wii for a bit you feel sorely ripped off.

Easier (and cheaper) fix – plug it into a CRT =D

@Gareth: I’m a self-confessed Nintendo fanboi so feel free to take my comments with a pinch of salt, but I believe the thing that makes Nintendo so special is that they take a look at the entire world back when the Wii was being developed, decided that HD capable TV adoption rates (remember: the world) are not broad enough to justify the additional cost of supporting HD, and decided not to support it.

History demonstrates that their strategy has proved to be very successful for its time. Now that HD capable TVs are finally coming into their own, the Xbox and PS3 crowd is starting to catch up in terms of sales.

    Everything in good time.

Question: What does a Wii fetch on eBay now? $25? $30 if youre lucky?
