New Aussie Invention Lets You Move Two Wheelie Bins – AT THE SAME TIME!

Gizmodo AU

In a completely rubbish statistic that I just made up, 98% of all Australian inventions are designed for the sole purpose of getting us milliseconds closer to beer. Take this multi-bin creation from South Australian inventor Mark Bradshaw, that allows users to wheel out not one, but two wheelie bins at the same time, therefore reducing the amount of time spent taking out the rubbish before cracking a beer.

Actually, it’s actually a lot smarter than just letting you cut the number of trips to the curb. The Multi-bin works by redistributing the weight of both bins (including bins of different sizes) to be shared across the combined four wheels, therefore reducing the amount of effort required to move the combined weight.

The gadget is as simple to use as sticking onto the inside edge of the front of one bin, then hooking the bottom hooks under a second bin. Alternatively, you can use the tool to carry gardening equipment around the yard, making it twice as useful.

The Multi-bin costs $32, plus delivery, and is made in Australia from Australian materials. And if it gets you closer to beer o’clock, that’s an absolute bargain.

I tend to just use two hands. Then I can put $32 towards the beer you talk about.

And no one will buy it in victoria for the simple reason that everyone has 2 wheelie bins that are not the same size!

One small for general waste and a big one for recycling so this invention will not sell at all in Victoria.

Read the article: “The Multi-bin works by redistributing the weight of both bins (including bins of different sizes)”

This would actually allow me to move 3 bins at once, given then I normally push one in front of me and pull one behind.

      @Alistair that’s odd.

After a comparative analysis of the the volume of my bins in a Melbourne CBD fringe suburb in the City of Yarra, my bins seem to defy your logic! They are exactly the same size. Woooo!

Hang on… maybe… just maybe… bin size is decided by council not state government. Whoah…

Wow, that’s all well and good… except my bins are two different sizes. I also wheel them both at the same time, one in front of me, and one behind me (Since my side path is too small to let me wheel them both side by side). Even if I had to move both at once, I can pull one behind me with each hand.

I’ll be keeping my $32, will come in handy for getting me more beer!

What if the wheelie-bins were full of ice.. and beer? That’s a weight worth distributing!

Maybe this is made for different wheelie bins than the ones we use in WA, but here’s a cheaper option: you want to move two bins? You have two arms, and on the end of each of those is a hand. Two hands. See where I’m going with this?

Or you know, you could just wheel 2 bins yourself. 1 in front, and 1 behind. Seems to work for me.

$32 that I can put towards beer? Great idea Nick! I’m pretty sure it’s beer o’clock somewhere..

I’m with everyone else on this… my two arms & hands to a fairly good job already of taking out the bins – I only do one trip as is.

Also reducing effort? Taking out the bins is not time to turn into a little girly-armed fool – it’s time to show your manliness! Forget wheeling the bins – pick them up and carry them!!

Well in Qld this would only be useful once a fortnight because you only put both bins out every second week. Plus some people now have a green waste bin.

    That’s three bins to move!

The market has moved passed this technology already.

It seems obvious to me that the green waste would go out on the alternate week therefore it would be two bins each week. Also, the device can be used to pull upto four bins along at a time…Three bins is no problem.

Bins are not something that needs to be made easier to take out, or get a wench to do! You need to do it like a lumberjack, or a nord viking does! Carry 2 at once, and not just dragging it along. No, no, CARRYING them under each arm, to show off your massive arms and to prove you are a mead-drinking MAN and not a milk drinking girly boy!

Nick Broughall creative statement that “98% of all Australian inventions are designed for the sole purpose of getting us milliseconds closer to beer” is words of a genius.
Let all Australian beer lovers drink to that.

As we recycle more and take care for the environment eventually every household will have 3 wheelie bins a 240l for Recycling, a 240l for Green waste and either a tall skinny 140l or a short fat 140l garbage bin. Only 2 bins are put out on rubbish day alternating between green waste and recycling each week. This is about 80% of the country at the moment.multi-bin comes in 2 variations multi-bin which connects 240l to short 140l or 120l and multi-bin2 that connects 240l to 240l or tall skinny 140l. If you dont think you need help with a multi-bin then just think about your poor parents or grandma the next time you are struggling putting out your full green waste bin.

    It’s a great product.

I bought this product at the home show. It is making my life easy to put two bins to the road as the multibin makes two bins into a four wheel trolly, that takes away the load from my shoulders. I recommend this product and one should give it a go.

Everyone complaining or saying how this is worthless or not worth the 32$ you don’t have to buy it. As you can see from other comments it has suited other peoples lifestyles, so if it doesn’t suit yours don’t buy it.

Has anyone stopped to think of the OH&S issues that a device like this will eliminate? Read on, it is all Australian made (that’s rare) and it has two uses. What about the ability to carry garden tools. Man thats a bargain in my eyes! Onyah Mark brilliant idea? I’m gettin one.
