I think the $799US price tag is well worth it. Windows 7 Professional, USB port, front and rear camera and it comes with a case and dock.

Add to that the fact that it can run whatever apps Windows can run, you’re not limited by a list of approved Apps, this device will be really good in its market, which is Business (As a consumer, I will still be buying one)

Can get a decent netbook/laptop for that price. Being an owner of a Samsung Q1, I think any tablet running windows is a useless clunky piece of junk. Windows is optimised for mouse and keyboard and is extremely frustrating to use without one. Not to mention they have ZERO apps that are optimised for touch screen.

    Long live the IPad!!

Gotta agree – especially also with the plethora of Android tablets about to hit the market – and at least Android was designed with touchscreens in mind. I think if they’re aiming it at the business market then you’d want the onscreen keyboard to perform well, assuming the user is doing a lot of typing.

You have no idea about the device, touch screen has nothing to do with the software but the device!

What apps you want to support touch screen!! W7 is working perfectly on this device.

I’ve been waiting for this product since it was shown at the CES. Looking at the specs, it is exactly what I’ve been looking for in a tablet PC. I wonder if and when it will be available here in Australia. I will consider ordering it online and have it delivered to my cousin’s home address in Los Angeles, California. Then ask her to send it by DHL to me in Sydney.

I have been told today that HP are not going to release the Slate into Australia?!?!?

    Can this be true??

My HP sources have even said not for the foreseeable future … are they for real …

Im all over it, but I’ll be scrapping Windows for a Linux install. The price is pretty good. The only serious contender for me otherwise is the Libretto – at twice the price :(
