On Friday, sometime around 9pm AEST, China sent a probe the moon.
The rocket, bearing the Chang’e-2 probe, launched from the Xichang launch centre around that time and proceeded to take the probe toward a trans-lunar orbit.
The trip from earth to moon will take approximately five days, after which time the probe will “collect data and test key technologies” for future landings – both manned and robotic.
Personal politics aside, all I can say is more, more, more. Let’s go exploring already. [BBC]
