A Third Of iPad Users Have Never Downloaded An App?

Here’s a kinda crazy statistic from a new report by the Nielsen Company: 32 per cent of iPad owners have never downloaded an app. Come on, guys, not even Angry Birds!?

The Nielsen Company’s report, derived from a survey conducted by 5000 tablet owners, shows that books, magazines and video content all benefit from the tablet’s bigger screen, with users (predictably) accessing those types of content far more often than they did on their smartphones.

But what’s even more striking is that 32 per cent of iPad owners have never downloaded an app at all. Not Pages, not even Angry Birds HD. For many, likely most Gizmodo-types, the idea of an iPad without apps is like a hamburger with no toppings – apps are what makes the iPad so versatile and in turn so enjoyable. But for others, it seems, having a lightweight slab that can access email and surf the web is enough. I guess it’s just surprising to see how many people settle for the plain hamburger. They all suck, that’s why. Why would you take a tablet online anyway? As techies we have plenty of better things for that.

All the apps from apple are useless to the point of comedy.

Its because the majority of ipad purchases were impulse buys by apple fans.

That doesn’t make any sense. Apple fanboys WOULD be downloading apps, even if only to justify their “impulse purchase”. The people not dowloading apps more likey belong to an older, less tech savvy demographic.
Think for half a second before you open your mouth to dribble inane, illogical rubbish.

        Looks like I touched a fanboy’s nerve.

Or maybe because it’s actually a useful product that allows me to surf the net comfortably while in bed, access Google Docs, my work email and more without lugging a laptop around the house, and allowing me to interact and watch my baby girl handily while still being able to access essential files/work/the Net.

And that’s all without downloading an App. With my Comixology, mag apps, Pages etc, the iPad has rapidly become a musthave for work and home life.
