Reminder: Free iPhone 4 Bumper Deal Ends Tomorrow

Gizmodo AU

Remember kiddies: If you’re hoping to pick up an iPhone 4 and take advantage of Apple’s free bumper offer, you’ll need to do it by tomorrow. You’ll then have 30 days to claim your bumper using the free app. Unless they decide to extend the offer, of course.

The September 30 cut-off date seems rather arbitrary. Unless Apple was planning on changing the phone itself, there’s no reason why people who buy the phone from Friday wouldn’t experience the same reception issues that led to Apple offering the free bumper.

Of course, whether or not Apple does change the phone, and whether or not Apple tells us they’ve changed the phone are two completely different things…

I’m the same. Shipped late last month with expected delivery of 20/9. Still haven’t seen anything and the tracking # doesn’t work on DHLs website.

I called up the Apple store in Sydney today and was flatly told that under no circumstances would the case program be extended past Thursday the 30th of September. Very disappointing as Optus is still sold out due to their ridiculous system of preordering and taking rainchecks far beyond the stock they were allocated, so despite my best efforts, I haven’t been able to get one yet. I really hope apple re-considers and extends the program until the end of the year. It’s 50 cents worth of rubber that should already come with the phone if it can’t work to it’s full extent without it.

If you read the Apple page you can still get a bumper after Sept 30, you just need to phone Apple Care and say you have reception issues. But you will only be able to get the Apple bumper, not a 3rd party case.

It does say on the Apple site that link goes to, that you can still request a free bumper case after 30th September, if your iPhone 4 actually does have the antenna issue. It says to call AppleCare.

Well I got my phone from Optus and they included a crappy silicone bumper that falls off in your pocket, I had no choice. And the app already says I have my bumper so that’s the end of it. Stupid Optus

I DL’d the app 2-3 weeks after getting my iPhone4 and it said I wasn’t able to claim the case, so I deleted the app. Then a mate at work came over and showed me his case and I thought I should order mine, now Apple tells me I had to do it within 30 days of getting the phone. I told them I did and it failed, they said bad luck. I’m super pissed! At no point did anyone tell me it had to be within 30 days, not even when I asked about the cases in the Apple store the day I lined up 6 hours for the phone.
