The Boxee Box is really, finally on its way, and you’ll be able to pre-order it today for $US220. One quick switch-up before they’re out the door: The boxes will house Intel Atom processors instead of NVIDIA Tegra 2 chipsets.
The last minute switch to Intel’s CE4100 processor – the same one found inside Logitech’s Google TV box – means that your Boxee will be able to handle full 1080p playback at 60fps. And while the company expects the Boxee Box to ship in November – in Canada, Australia and the European Union in addition to the US – you should be able to pre-order one shortly from Amazon.com for $US220. Tuesday, September 14, 2010 at 7:54 PMDoes anyone know if you can change the OS on this? I would like one but prefer XBMC to Boxee. I know Boxee is based on XBMC but does anyone know if you can change it? Would XBMC support the same resolution or is boxee compiled with special drivers?
