Kites Back In The Olden Days Were A Lot More Serious-Looking

Serious, you ask? Serious, I say – just look at the collection of kites below that were flown on a windy day back in 1957 at the University of Illinois’ Kite Derby Day. Each is more mathematical-inspired than the last.

They’re certainly a world away from the colourful cartoon-like kites flown by kids on grassy knolls nowadays, eh? [Mondo-Blogo via But Does It Float via WonderHowTo]

Well it’s true. There is nothing new under the Sun. The triple box kite is being sold today. Two of the other kites are being made and flown pretty much in the same shape and form. One of the kites looks like something called a “Rotar”.
The first kite, a collection of cells is done over and over. just in different sizes. Nice to see we are still on the right track.
    God Bless
