Human Exoskeletons Nothing New, Says 1960s GE Prototype

The US military is currently testing what they’d have you believe is cutting-edge exoskeleton technology. Don’t believe them! These pictures, from the carefree 1960s, have them beat by almost half a century.

The concept was called Hardiman, and it was a real, live prototype developed to help human beings lift heavy loads

As is still the issue with today’s exoskeletons, the power source was a huge stumbling block for the unit and only an experimental version was ever produced.

“the power source was a huge stumbling block for the unit”
