How To Give Your Canon DSLR Owning Friends A Heart Attack

Gizmodo AU

Looks like a lens… right up until you pour coffee all over it.

I’m a sucker for a cute gadget, but I’ve also got something of a Machiavellian streak in me, So when I spotted this replica Canon USM Lens Coffee Cup at purveyors of generally cheap-and-awful Chinest plasticware DealExtreme, it occurred to me that, rather than the perfect gift for the DSLR loving person in your life, it could also be used for more devious purposes… such as seeing what colour they turn when you “spill” coffee all over a high-priced lens.

There’s even, rather alarmingly, a companion Thermos lens available as well.

    :P DealExtreme you say?
Great prices for what you get, rarely see anything over $10 (except for electronics) however they have really bad shipping (even though it’s free) but other then that, it’s a great product. One of the many thousands that DX keep in stock and this looks like the perfect gift as stated.

Uh, yeah, these have been around for a while now.

Not loving the research done on Giz stories lately.

      i agree.

these were available to the general public from about last year. in fact, canon australia staff were given the 70-200 version of the travel mug as a gift earlier this year.

I believe Canon gave these to the press at a product launch or other press event last year (or perhaps it was the thermos).
They were impossible to get your hands on at the time if you weren’t there.

Glad to see they’re now for sale, and for a reasonable price too, at least compared to what one might expect for anything with Canon on it.

Time now to start dropping hints for Christmas…

Had both the c and thermos for nearly six months. Easily available on the bay. Old news I’m afraid.

    *Falls On Sword*

I hadn’t seen ‘em, figured others may not have. Obviously, I was wrong. And now I’ve got a sword stuck in me. Ow. Anyone got a band-aid?
