Foxtel Launching Permanent 3D Sports Channel

Gizmodo AU

Everyone who owns a 3D TV yet moans about the lack of 3D content available, you might want to get Foxtel. Starting November 1, they’re launching the country’s first dedicated (and permanent) 3D channel, Foxtel 3D.

Made up from a mix of sports and live events from Fox Sports and ESPN, the new 3D channel will be available for anyone subscribing to the HD versions of the sports package. NBA, College Football and XGames content will be broadcast from ESPN’s international 3D channel, while Fox Sports will be providing 3D versions of events like Wimbledon.

And if 3D still isn’t your cup of tea, there will be a few new HD channels launched on the same day, including Nat Geo Wild HD, BBC Knowledge HD and Speed HD.

    Austar???

(which, after being forced to switch to with our move, I have concluded is considerably inferior)

No on-demand, dodgy menu systems and unstable/crashy box.

Forget 3D, I’m just glad to see them expanding their HD offerings. Given FTA is going the opposite direction by killing off all of their HD channels, its good to see Foxtel catering for people that actually care about picture quality.

We do wish the poor TV commentators could get out of their funeral black suits … it makes for such uncomfortable viewing!! What about white sports shirts ..so much more pleasant for everyone concerned.
Also, can’t read the white writing on blue board. V difficult to read.
    Keep up good work
